On 11th September we held a community celebration event to mark the completion of our highly successful Weston Heights development, which has completely transformed a run-down former mining estate in Stoke-on-Trent into a highly desirable place to live.
For almost a decade, Compendium Living has been working with partners Riverside, our contractor Lovell, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Coalville Residents’ Association to revitalise the former Coalville estate into what it is today. The community event brought together all those involved to mark the completion of a programme which has reshaped the estate and replaced 257 substandard properties with over 280 sought-after, high quality modern homes for open market sale, affordable rent, and low-cost home ownership. Other attractions created include a purpose-built neighbourhood park and new recreational open spaces.
Dave Bullock, managing director of Compendium Living, said: “We are enormously proud of what has been achieved at Weston Heights. The community event provided the chance to celebrate with our project partners and the local people who campaigned for this transformation and whose commitment and support throughout have helped bring about its success.
“When you look around at the well-designed homes and the new open spaces, it’s clear that the whole area has been totally transformed. The quality of life for existing residents has been dramatically improved with Weston Heights also becoming a sought-after location for people from outside the area who recognise it as a great place to live.”
The community event featured fun activities for the entire family, including kids’ sports and games, traditional sideshow stalls and a static bird of prey demonstration, as well as a display telling the story of the estate from the very beginning.
